So today is the official start of my blog. I have been thinking for several days on what my first blog post should be. After much debate I decided to just speak from the heart because in the end that seems to be what always works out best. Don’t you agree? I am a stay at home mom to two sweet, very active, and at times crazy, little boys! I have loved crafting since I was a child and once I got married besides planning my wedding and a few parties, I had gotten away from doing something that I loved so much. The last few years I have gotten back into doing what I love: Crafting, Baking and Celebrating mainly as a result of wanting to create lasting, beautiful memories for my boys.
Both of my boys have various food allergies, primarily gluten, dairy, eggs, soy and then some! Name the ingredient and they’re probably allergic to it! Does it come in a box? Well more likely than not, that’s out too. Out of sheer necessity, I have learned to become an allergen free baker and cook while still making beautiful and delicious things worthy of two little princes. Necessity is indeed the mother of invention. Gluten free and casein free baking and cooking has become a passion for me. I’ve poured over all of the popular gluten free baking books and blogs and magazines. I have scoured endless health food stores looking for that perfect cookie or treat for my boys, mostly to no avail. I’ve tasted more foods that dared to call themselves a cookie or a cupcake, for the sake of being gluten and casein free, that no little boy should ever have to endure. So I decided to take matters into my own hands, literally and figuratively. It has become a challenge to create inventive recipes and to perfect the chocolate chunk cookies or that special birthday cake that my boys and their non allergy suffering friends would both enjoy. I think I have finally met that challenge!
I first got into looking at all the party blogs when my five year son was no longer sleeping at night. I would look at party blogs on my iPhone, while I prayed he would doze off to slumber and tried to maintain my sanity! There are so many wonderful resources to get inspiration from. To name a few TomKat Studio Design, How Does She, She’s Kinda Crafty, Hostess with the Mostess, Eighteen25, Tatertots & Jello, Somewhat Simple and Tweedle Dee Designs. There are many more and I would love to compile these and share them with you as well as my own original ideas.
I hope to inspire you and also look forward to being inspired by your ideas. So if you love to Craft, Bake and Celebrate, as much as I do, follow me. We’re going to have a lot of fun!
