Subway Art Baby Canvas

Don’t you just love when an idea in your head finally comes together? A sweet friend recently had a baby boy and I was racking my brain trying to come up with a gift that was personal but also something that she could use somehow. So I found out the colors in her baby’s nursery and this is what I came up with!

I bought a plain 16×20 canvas board from Michael’s Craft Stores. It comes in a very stark white so I purchased Distress Ink in Walnut and applied it using a foam brush and water to give it an aged look.

Next I set up my wording for the board using various fonts and sizes, using my Silhouette SD cutter. Her primary colors where light blue, navy and white. I used the permanent vinyl in light blue, navy and tan. Once my Silhouette cut my vinyl letters I removed my vinyl using vinyl tape. I cut out each word and layed it out on the board to see how I wanted to set it up.

I then began with my biggest words first and fixed them onto the board peeling back the tape backing.
Once I had layed out all the words just like I wanted them, I used Modge Podge and applied it with a foam brush to cover the entire canvas and affix the vinyl to the canvas so that it does not peel up.

My friend loved it and it matched her son’s room perfectly! I think I will have two make two for my own boys’ rooms now!

What a great idea! It did come together perfectly. What did you use to make your letters?

Hi Kelley, I used my Silhouette SD cutter, guess that little bit of information would have been useful to include in the post :). I just edited it to show that! Thanks.
