Tooth fairy Door
A few months ago we had a very special thing happen at our house! My oldest son, lost his first baby tooth! Once I realized he had a loose tooth I was so excited that we were going to have a visit from the tooth fairy. Believe it or not (if you know me you will definitely believe it) I already had an adorable tooth fairy pillow that I had purchased when my son was a mere baby. It was one of those things that if you didn’t buy it you probably would never find again, so I got two!

I had seen a tutorial on how to make a tooth fairy door on a Nest of Posies a while ago and put it away for safe keeping for when the time came. I painted the door a color that would look nice in his room. I wanted to put my own special touch to it, as I usually do, so I purchased miniature doll house brass house numbers, a lock and a key. It still needed something… a tooth fairy. So I used these cupcake picks that I already had at home from Meri Meri. They were perfect! I took pictures of the fairy “flying” holding the key in her hand to unlock her special door. These pictures are for me to show my son someday. Right now I think it might make him a little anxious about sleeping in his room with fairies flying around.

For some reason, the fact that my first born was losing his first baby teeth was very emotional for me. I guess in a way it meant that he wasn’t a baby anymore but is now officially a big boy. The tooth was loose for weeks so every day we looked and touched it, nervous that the tooth in question would fall out at school and be lost forever. So much to my surprise I picked him up from school and not only did he lose the tooth we had been waiting for, but also the one right next to it. The teacher was kind enough to clean and wrap them for me so that the tooth fairy could come that night. The door was already to go hung up on the wall in my son’s room, not too close to his bed where he asked me to place it. So we went to sleep and waited for her to come… and she did.

And she left behind lots of glitter and star confetti, a one dollar bill and a special game my little boy was wishing for! And it was magical…

I dedicate this to all of my friends who have little ones who are just starting to loose those sweet precious baby teeth. I guess it’s just one more thing that reminds us that our babies our growing up. Enjoy it and make it as fun as possible. We still have a ways to go before they start asking us to borrow the car keys! I’m sure that day too will come in the blink of an eye.
