Last week I had the absolute pleasure of going on a little trip down to Atlanta, Georgia to meet Amy Atlas on her book tour’s last stop! As soon as I saw that Tampa would not be one of the stops on the tour I started plotting which stop I could attend and the stars aligned and we were on our way! The trip began with a quick but lovely breakfast with my friend Bethany from Sweet Georgia Sweet, truly a peach! Pun intended! Then off to Williams Sonoma, one of my favorite places on earth, for the book signing!
It goes without saying that Sweet Designs is an absolutely gorgeous book filled to the brim with drool worthy photography, but that’s just the tip of the dessert table. The book is filled with detailed, step-by-step instructions on how even the novice entertainer can create the most extraordinary dessert tables. What tools you will need and even templates that you can download of their website to complete the look of the exact table! In one word Fabulous! So if you don’t already have the book, trust me you need it!
My experience with Amy and her amazing partner in crime Lisa was more amazing that I would have ever imagined. I have submitted several parties to Amy’s gorgeous blog through Lisa and have a wonderful working relationship with them. Being featured on their website was one of the biggest thrills for someone who takes so much pride in the parties that I style.
When I walked into Williams Sonoma for the book signing and none other than Ms. Amy Atlas herself comes right over to me and with a warm smile, says, “Hi Dorangela?” I could have nearly died right then and there! As if that wasn’t enough to send me into orbit right up to heaven then she says “Hi Angie”, not just any Angie, Bakerella! Oh My Goodness! Ok so I’m standing next to Bakerella and Amy Atlas. As my baby sister who was my assistant for the day said, ” You acted just like a little girl, it was so cute!” I probably did!

I also got the pleasure to meet with another friend Mandy from Waiting on Martha, who I met earlier this year when we both attended Dreamers into Doers Event at Martha Stewart Living Headquarters. I also got to wear a gorgeous necklace by my good friend from Erro Designs.
Amy’s warmth and generosity did not end there. We all eagerly listened to her presentation and pointers on how to style the perfect dessert table.
After her presentation she stayed to sign each of our books ( I have four that I had bought of course).
Not only did she personalize and sign each of our books she took the time to talk to each and everyone of us as she signed our book. I gifted Amy and Lisa, Atlas Mason jars (yes I’m clever like that) filled with my fresh baked gluten free vegan chocolate chunk cookies!
She immediately opened the cookies and suggested we share one! She loved them and was excited to talk to me about what plans I have in the future for Two Prince Bakery Theater. We talked for a long time after the book signing and after many hugs and kisses felt like I had just spent some time with an old friend. She’s got that way about her! So happy that I made the trip and I think it may end up being one of those moments in life that sets you on the path you are destined to go! Thank you Amy and Lisa for all of your advise, kind words of encouragement and your sincere caring and generosity! You understood why I am so passionate about what I do and that’s why we connected in such a special way!
It is an amazing thing to meet someone you have idolized for so many years, and to find out that the reality of that person far exceeded your expectations. A beautiful person inside and out! I feel like I made a good friend or two that day! So happy for all of your successes, they are all well deserved!
