I am so excited to finally be able to share this styled party shoot that I was asked to design for the fabulous Loralee Lewis! To say that I have literally been dying inside bursting at the seams to share it with you, would not be an understatement! We began working on this fun Spooky Halloween Engagement Party back in June. Today it is being featured on the gorgeous wedding blog Every Last Detail!
Loralee Lewis asked if I could design a party with a Halloween theme. When I saw this suite, Haunted Mansion, I decided I wanted to do an engagement. Quickly the love affair of The Addams Family’s Morticia and Gomez came to mind. I was very fortunate to have a wonderful photographer, Marc Edwards from Marc Edwards Photographs, to capture it all perfectly.
I wanted to use very classic colors to tie in with the paper suite so I went with black, whites, browns and coppers. To convey the spooky feel of The Addams family I used wrought iron and heavy dark wood pieces. We used gorgeous florals in varying shades of cream and whites to soften the woods and iron and also to play up the romance, after all this is an engagement party.
All of the food and treats in this party where completely gluten free as well to show that gluten free can totally be made to look beautiful.
The cake a rich gluten free devil’s food cake with a peanut butter ganache frosting. Topped with a beautiful acrylic topper and whimsical glitter spider.
Florals arranged in cigar boxes and antique wood bottle holders, vintage books and an antique Victrola where key elements in the design of this party. I wanted to play up the elegance of the Addams Family while adding some fun whimsical elements that were exclusive to Morticia and Gomez.
The wrought iron medieval style chandelier was stunning filled with cream colored roses, hydrangeas and lisianthus. Seriously, they were breath-taking!
These trifles were a favorite, cinnamon graham cookies and cream cheese frosting were delicious in mini glass vases complete with hand painted wooden spoons.
These Morticia and Gomez inspired cake pops were almost too pretty to eat. The details of the pinstripes on Gomez suit and tie, the deep neckline and floral corsage on Morticia’s dress were perfectly executed in these decadent red velvet treats!
Loralee Lewis’s fun Couture cupcake toppers really dressed up these chocolate peanut butter cupcakes with sweet terms of endearment.
This iconic vintage wicker peacock chair was an amazing find, the sharp silk screen pillow with a popular line from The Lumineer song makes it very comtemporary.
These super fun fondant cigar toppers are so masculine perched on a smokin cocktail!
Love this distressed buffet used as a bar, holding all of our signature cocktails and a hand-crafted wooden beer crate. Simple black crepe paper garland acts as a backdrop and mimics the rough tendrils like hem or Morticia’s black dress.
Totally love this gorgeous wooden box that perfectly fits an engagement ring and the question is clearly asked once it is opened!
These are just a few of my favorite photographs from this spooky halloween engagement party. There are so many and I hope you love them as much as I do! Thanks to Loralee Lewis for asking me to style this shoot based on one of her designs and for always trusting my design ideas to complement your work. Also thanks to Marc Edwards Photographs for working with me on this and for your infinite patience! Your photographs captured everything I wanted to convey beautifully! I feel lucky to have worked with you both!
